A brief history of the first year

The time-line below shows (in very broad and general terms) how the project progressed and developed during its first year.

Information about the technologies used, the people involved, the way in which relationships were built up, and the technical problems overcome are available elsewhere on this site.

Individual project activities and schedules were designed and developed by the participating teachers in conjunction with the educational consultants, within the above time frames.

In the earlier stages of the project, the US and UK consultants worked mainly with the schools in their own countries, but 'cross border' management and support increased as the project developed.

Communications

Regular audio conference calls between all management and consultant staff took place regularly throughout the first year of the project, as did monthly audio conferences between all participating teachers and consultant staff.

Until January 1998, US schools also had regular audio conferences with Brooke Brummitt of GSN. (Please see acknowledgements.)
This diagram shows the pattern of communications between all staff involved in the project during the first year. Talking!
