Taliesin Junior
School is in the town of Shotton, which is on Deeside in the north east corner
of Wales. The nearest city is Chester, an old Roman city which is just across
the border in England. Deeside is an urban industrial area, and Shotton used to be
a steel-making centre. |
The school is on the edge of the town, and has about 190 pupils, aged from 7 to 11. There are three classes of 7 - 9 year olds, and three of 9 - 11 year olds. There is also a Special Needs resource unit. |
Although Welsh is taught, English is the main language of the school. A broad curriculum is studied, and includes innovations such as an 'Industry Week', which is well supported by contacts in local and national companies. |
